Hagbourne School has a large amount of outdoor space, but current much of this is under-developed, and therefore under utilized.
Together, the head teacher, Mrs Crewe, and the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), have devised a plan to transform the school grounds, by identifying discrete areas that can be refurbished in phases but that will ultimately create a cohesive playground full of fascinating areas for the children to explore.
This year, we plan to create a fantastic science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) centre in an unused area of the playground, which will be an exciting and engaging place to play. This will be an area where the children can really get stuck in and use all their senses. There will be water, mud, gravel and sand, and equipment to pour, measure, weigh and carry. The younger children will enjoy digging in the gravel and sand pits, while the older children will be able to explore the properties of different materials, develop their maths skills and get creative with their own experiments!
This is a really exciting opportunity to improve the facilities at our much-loved village school and we thank you for your donation.
If we do not raise the required funds, we will rethink the plans for the STEM space to work to the revised budget. If we raise more than the require funds, the extra money will be put toward further playground improvements.
