We aim to improve the lives of marginalised and disadvantaged young people aged 13-21 and their families by changing their thinking, behaviour and attitude and so improve their emotional health and wellbeing. We work short and longer term with individual young people, groups of young people, their families and extended families, their peer groups and with residents of housing estates. We typically work with very diverse groups on common themes, for instance social exclusion, prejudice, attack - sometimes violence - exile, rootlessness, and having the feeling that one has little power to change ones immediate circumstances. Our experience started by engaging young people in meetings with holocaust survivors where they were encouraged to examine where and how they might make a difference in their communities: taking lessons from the past into their everyday lives. Specifically, they engaged with questions of how to intervene (preventatively) around social marginalisation and segregation before violence escalates.

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.
We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.
We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
