About Chance For Childhood

Chance for Childhood is an award-winning charity working in Africa to support the most vulnerable children, such as street children, disabled children, children affected by conflict and kids behind bars.

These children are often invisible members of their communities, unable to go to school, excluded from society and living in abject poverty. They are sadly forced to grow up much too quickly…

What makes us special?

We work with visionary community leaders who best understand their local context. This enables us to focus on ‘hard to reach’ children, both in terms of their complex needs (e.g. street children with learning difficulties) and location (e.g. Accra’s most violent neighbourhood or rural Rwanda).

Our vision is of a world where no child is forgotten!

A Marathon 2019.... TBC

Every child deserves a “Chance for Childhood”We've all been there….. Sat teary eyed in front of the TV as we watch another child fight for the most basic of human rights, survival. Every two years our awareness of issues in the “developing” world are brought to our attention by the fantastic work carried out by all of the charities involved in raising money on Red Nose Day. That day then passes and as we go back to our normal lives the images of these issues become but a distant memory.
Unfortunately, these issues do not just go away and are ongoing:
"The highest rates of child mortality are still in Sub Saharan Africa, where 1 in 9 children dies before age five, more than 16 times the average for developed regions (1 in 152)"
I have been blessed with an opportunity to raise money for an amazing charity making real differences for the most vulnerable children in
Africa affected by:·

Violence·

Homelessness·

Abuse·

Drug Use·

Disabilities
Chance for Childhood focusses on ‘hard to reach’ children, both in terms of their complex needs (e.g. street children with learning difficulties) and location (e.g. urban violent slums or remote rural areas). They make ideas and impact both sustainable and scalable to protect, educate and empower even more of the world’s most disadvantaged children.Hopefully, the money you donate can help, providing real long-term help for children living lives that the majority of us can’t even imagine.
Not only do you get to help this amazing cause, you also get to see me try and run 26.2 miles around London! I can’t even run 26 metres without puffing and panting at the moment!!

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
