Eastbourne Half Marathon
Please help us to
reboot Coda International
and to get the organisation off to a great start providing support to three excited Digital Citizenship projects in Southern Africa.
I am running the Eastbourne half marathon with my good friend Tony Roberts. Tony co-founded Coda International way back in 1989 and served as Director for an amazing ten years running projects in Nicaragua and South African with funding from the UK Department For International Development (DFID) and the National Lottery. When he left in 1999 to found Computer Aid International the team that took over Coda and ran it up until 2018 did an incredible job, expanding to new regions with support from Comic Relief. Last year they decided to hand the reins back. Tony was appointed Chair of Trustees and they have put together a great new team of volunteers who are preparing to
reboot Coda International
in 2019.
To get things restarted we are raising funds to enable us to provide support to three exciting digital development projects:Constituency Watch Zambia: using Facebook as an organising tool for citizens to engage with local politicians and hold them accountable to communities.Health Enabled South Africa:
using mobile phones as an organising tool for citizens to demand essential health services through the People's Health Movement.Treatment Advocacy Literacy Campaign: using text messages to send appointment reminders and health literacy messages from and to People Living With HIV in Zambia. Please help us to raise a little seed money to
reboot Coda International
so that we can then mobilise resources for people's movements like the three above how are using digital technologies to organise people's collective action for transformative social and political change.
