Cycling Without Age Bristol aims to harness the pedal-power of volunteer riders in Bristol to provide free, leisurely 'trishaw' cycle rides to local older people living in care homes so they can feel the wind in their hair!
The rides foster inter-generational connections and conversations, reduce loneliness, promote social inclusion and improve the mental wellbeing of volunteers and older people alike.
We are raising money to help us launch Cycling Without Age Bristol. We need funds for equipment such as a waterproof blanket to help keep our older passengers warm and dry through the winter months, and funds to help to continue our project and make sure the recruitment organisation of volunteer riders continues. In the future we would love to add more trishaws so we can offer more rides to older people in Bristol.
About us: We are a new organisation. The Bristol chapter of Cycling Without Age was set up by local volunteers and with funding from Quartet Community Foundation (The Medlock Fund for Older People), The People’s Postcode Trust, the John James Bristol Foundation, Bristol Ageing Better Community Kickstart fund and National Lottery Community Fund, the first trishaw was secured. Inaugural rides are planned for Summer 2019.
We are a part of a virtual community of similar local groups in the UK through the global Cycling Without Age network.

The Co-operative Bank are proud to be the main sponsorship partner of the Wonderful Organisation supporting charities to make a difference by ensuring 100% of donations go directly to doing good. Learn more about the Bank’s values and ethics.
We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.
We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.
We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
