About Kirima Ltd

Great Lakes High School, Uganda

Securing the Future

This is the fundraising page for the 2019 Highgate School Sponsored Walk which raises funds to support Great Lakes High School.

The school is in a very deprived area of rural Uganda where there is a great need for a good quality secondary school. The school was built from scratch in 2007 - the site was just an empty field - and is now a thriving establishment providing a science based education for 300 girls and boys from year 7 through to 'A' Levels.

Funds from the walk are vital to support the school and secure its future. This year we are fundraising for:

  1. Library: books are in short supply – we need to convert a space into a library and purchase a range of text books and private reading material for the children.
  2. IT Laboratory: we need to create a facility for teaching of Information Technology as a subject in its own right and to support teaching other subjects.
  3. Developing science teaching further: we need funds to recruit two full-time science teachers, to develop full potential of the two science labs and to pay the costs for children without sponsors, including the hardship funds which supports 40 double orphans.

When making donations, select the name of the UK charity "Kirima Ltd" which ensures that the funds are properly used in Uganda. 100% of your donation will be spent on the High School, with no admin costs. You can read more at

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
