Complete Life Fitness - Fire Station Fun
Move the Masses gives people of all ages and abilities access to free workouts in their local open spaces.
Our mission is simply to get the masses moving. All people. We believe everybody should be motivated and encouraged to take part in physical activity.
We specifically want to encourage those who are impoverished, older or otherwise isolated in society.
We know that moving improves physical health and emotional wellbeing. That is why we are inclusive, accessible and free* so that everyone has the opportunity to discover and enjoy movement.
We also have a walking buddy scheme called Move Mates, our aim is to give people the confidence to get outside and get moving with one of our volunteers.
A Move Mate will meet someone at their front door and accompany them wherever they want to go; perhaps it’s a walk to the local shop or to pick up a prescription, or it could be a walk to an activity they’ve wanted to attend, or just a walk around the block to get them moving and have a chat.
We can help anybody of any age, people facing:
fear of falling
If you'd like to run, swim, bake (or do anything else to raise some money), click the button below to get started. It's quick and easy to register and by doing so here at Wonderful.org, you can be sure that every penny raised will reach Move the Masses.
Join us for another great evening of circuits based at Acomb fire station! All funds raised are going on Move Mates (walking buddy project) - to print volunteer training manuals.

It's circuits time again and your chance to work out in a Fire Station!
This is free to attend but I'll be taking donations from those of you who can afford it so chuck in a fiver (or more if you can afford it!) and come get fit with me. You could even donate and nominate someone else to attend on your behalf!
Cue fun fitness games, energetic exercises and generally fab workout where all proceeds will go to Move the Masses.
At the moment we're specifically fundraising for our Move Mates project - we're looking to raise money to get our volunteers t-shirts and ID badges so they can be easily recognised when going to beneficiary's homes.
Wasdale X is a long distance triathlon in the Lake District. Think Ironman, but with mountains.
It's a 3.8km (2.4 mile) swim in Lake Windermere which Ellie G is taking on.
Then Fiona is up for a 180km (112 mile) bike, taking in the toughest climbs the Lake District has to offer with a truly giganic 3,700m (12,000ft) of climbing. It's epic.
Then it's Egg's turn to run a fell marathon, with 1,450m (4,923ft) of elevation gain including topping out on England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.
The race starts at 04:30 and we have until half past midnight to finish! If anything, you should consider sponsoring us just purely to get up that early, let alone doing the crazy race.
The race entry is paid for by us so all proceeds go directly to the charity. Training has begun and we'll keep you updated!
We're running monthly circuits classes to raise awareness of our fabulous charity, Move the Masses!
Think of this as 'pay-it-forward fitness' - your donations mean that we can continue to support people who can't afford to access physical activity.
We're particularly raising funds to support our Move Mates project, which is a walking buddy service to help people get out of their houses and into their communities!
At Acomb Fire Station, we will be doing all sorts of exercises and having loads of fun whilst pumping out great tunes. This session will be hosted by Katie and Mark of Yorkshire Fitness.
No matter what your current level of fitness is, we will have exercises to suit - so don’t wait to get fit, just come along and join in.
The session is free to come along to but any donation you can make helps to fund the work we are doing (suggested donation is £5).

After last month's success I thought we should run a festive fundraiser for Move the Masses - in this fitness class there'll be Christmas tunes, a special '12 days of Christmas' workout and all the usual madness.
Anyone aged 16+ can come along, exercises can be adapted for different fitness levels.
On Tuesday 6th November at 18:30, I will be running a big, fun circuit class at Acomb Fire Station.
All proceeds will be split between Move the Masses and the Firefighter's Charity. Suggested donation is £5.
Move the Masses will be using all funds raised to develop their Move Mates project (primarily, the cost of recruiting volunteers), which is a walking buddy service to help get isolated people or those suffering social anxiety, out of their houses.
The Co-operative Bank are proud to be the main sponsorship partner of the Wonderful Organisation supporting charities to make a difference by ensuring 100% of donations go directly to doing good. Learn more about the Bank’s values and ethics.
We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.
We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.
We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
