About Pain Support Jersey

Pain Support Jersey are a Jersey charity offering support to persistent pain sufferers.

Pain Support Jersey offers support in many ways but with one principal aim, to improve your quality of life.

Persistent pain inevitably colours someone's life. Work can be affected, social lives disappear, loneliness sets in, self-confidence takes a plunge, and life, in general, becomes less fulfilled. Every individual is, of course, different, but Pain Support Jersey offers everyone the opportunity to improve their lives, physically and mentally, despite the pain.

Klein Family

My family are taking part in the walk to raise much needed funds for PSJ as a big thank you to the charity for providing bi-weekly physio led exercise and mindfulness sessions. These allow me to gently improve fitness, maintain mobility and benefit from the camaraderie shared by members. Please sponsor us a little or a lot, as every penny will be very much appreciated.I would also like to raise awareness of illnesses which are often described as 'invisible illnesses' given that there are little or no outward signs. This can mean sufferers may not receive the support or understanding they need:Fibromyalgia is a little-understood condition that is characterised by chronic widespread pain, fatigue and debilitating sleep difficulties. It is extremely difficult to treat and there is no cure as yet. Sufferers often develop a host of related issues, such as, IBS, headaches, anxiety and depression.Psoriatic Arthritis is an inflammatory auto immune disease, meaning it occurs when the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue, in this case joints and skin. The faulty immune response causes inflammation which triggers joint pain, stiffness and swelling together with fatigue. It can affect the whole body and may lead to permanent joint and tissue damage.A big focus for both these conditions is on pain and symptom management, so access to hydrotherapy, guided exercises and meditation in a supportive, non-competitive environment is vital.Thank you very much for taking the time to read this page, I hope this has helped with understanding just two of the many different conditions and causes of persistent pain.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
