Improving International Trauma Care
Thank you for visiting this fundraising page!
A recent week in Hargeisa, Somaliland, has been a real eye-opener into the challenges many medical colleagues in low income settings face when dealing with patients with traumatic physical injuries.
🛺🏗🔪🚗🛵💣🚑 More people die from traumatic injuries worldwide than from malaria and HIV combined. Most of these deaths occur in developing countries, and many patients affected are young adults or children. Few doctors and nurses in lower resource settings receive formal training into how to safely manage these patients and injuries.
The Primary Trauma Care Foundation is a charity that runs courses suitable for lower resource settings, and trains local healthcare professionals to better manage these patients. Well trained doctors and nurses save more lives, leaving fewer victims of injury with lifelong disability 💪
You may have seen some of my photos from Somaliland. Somaliland is the newcomer in a group of over 70 countries where courses have taken place. Shortly, I will be going to rural Senegal to teach health professionals there. These trips have been funded, but I am appealing to you because the work this charity does is so important and needs support. With help from you, we can continue to maintain mentorship links with doctors that have been trained, update the free teaching material on the website, and reach more countries and regions in the future!
Please consider donating to this excellent cause - just the price of your morning cup of coffee will help fund these programs that are so desperately needed.
