About Quicken Trust

Welcome to Quicken Trust's fundraising pages! To donate to our Christmas 2019 Appeal click here: Give Light

Quicken Trust is a small charity demonstrating God’s love in action in support of impoverished children in the village of Kabubbu, Uganda.

Supporters partnering the funding of Kabubbu Kid’s education & healthcare ensure they flourish, and free themselves from the injustice of poverty - AIDS, famine, war, and corruption - imposed by others.

The aim for the children is self-determination, and for the village a self-sustaining community. The list of infrastructure developments is long! In 2010 Uganda’s Vice-President, Edward Ssekandi, said: “This is the finest example of rural development I have ever seen or heard of in Uganda.”

A small charity achieving BIG things! Partnered children achieve diploma & degree level education because 100% of donations, reach Kabubbu Kids and ensure they have an opportunity for transformation. That’s unique to Quicken Trust. Our Sussex office is funded through Gift Aid.

This Christmas please place your money where you can follow it.

GIVE LIGHT THIS CHRISTMAS

Twenty years ago, Jacqueline was two. Her brother refilled their paraffin lamp and lit it. An explosion filled the room with flames. Their grass-thatched house burnt down. Everyone died except 2 year-old Jacqueline. Terribly burned, she suffered years of treatment.

Today, Hakim’s mum refuses to use their paraffin lamp. She’s terrified it will set their mosquito nets or curtains on fire and destroy their home, or even kill a member of the family. And she’s not alone – this is a fear held by many.

But without light at night Kabubbu Kids face other problems too - how to do their homework in the gloom? On the Equator Kabubbu village is in darkness at 7pm right through to 7am, 365 days a year. Families have the difficulty of risking a paraffin lamp - or choosing darkness. With little or no light, family life as well as homework suffers.

This Christmas Quicken Trust wants to light-up Kabubbu Kids’ homework and light-up their family life. Solar-powered light! Yes, no fossil fuels or reliance on unreliable electricity supplies. And no more fumes.

Can you help us Give Light to every household, with two lights – one in each room? At a cost of £10 each, 1,000 lights will cost £10,000. 2,000 lights will cost £20,000.

Why not help the family of the child or elderly person you support? What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
