About The 3 Pillars Feeding The Homeless

Covering St.Neots, Huntingdon, Peterborough.

Founded by Freemasons, run by Freemasons & Friends in the community.

Registered charity No. 1173518

The 3 Pillars - Feeding the homeless Charity was conceived by Mick Pescod and Ged Dempsey - Freemasons from the Province of Northamptonshire and Huntingdonshire. This Charity is run by Freemasons and is a Masonic Charity but friends and anyone who would care to assist are very welcome to join us..

About us and how we started.

Initially, we undertook a number of trial runs at the car park of the Brewery Tap in Peterborough on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and after 8 weeks were feeding 40 people a night. That figure has now increased and can reach upto 100 people per night.

Our vision is to expand this project geographically and increase the frequency of the support across the Province but first we need to make sure that the model works and can be fully supported.

We have had great assistance from members of the public, similar minded groups such as 'Caring For Cambridgeshire’s Homeless' founded by Karen Dunn who has been amazing.

We offer a hot meal to all, along with hot dogs, sandwiches, fruit and hot and cold drinks. The food is prepared and served by a budding group of volunteers. We also supply essentials from toiletries to shoes, sleeping bags and tents.

We have a real ongoing need for this to continue so any help will be thankfully received and faithfully applied.

Donations of food, blankets, tents, clothing (coats, shoes, gloves) waterproof bags etc are most welcome. All donations collected from any direction are fully accountable, and all monies raised goes directly to looking after the homeless in this area.

The most critical support is volunteers to assist on-site to feed the people who are in real need of this help. Once this is fully established it is our wish to expand this to other locations within the region.

Early on we purchased a used van that was converted to a purpose built catering van that is self-sufficient. This was made possible by donations from local businesses, listed in our sponsors page.

We are now in the proccess of getting a newer van specially adapted for food serving as the older van does not match the needs of the increased numbers of street friends.

Another part of the work we do is to try and rehome some of the most vulnerable of our street friends. Together with outside agencies like the YMCA we have had success in rehoming a number of the long term homeless.

Thank you for your interest and any help you can give would be very welcome.

3 Peak Challenge in 24hrs

My aim is to climb 3 mountains in 24 hours!I finally have the opportunity to take part in the 3 Peaks Challenge! My goal is to to raise badly needed funds and raise awareness for Caring for Cambridgeshire’s Homeless Volunteer Group and 3 Pillars-Feeding the Homeless in Peterborough.I have been a street volunteer with CCH and witnessed first hand all of the amazing things that these volunteers so selflessly do EVERY day!
Whilst most homeless people are trying very hard to get themselves back on their feet, they need much needed support!
Dedicated volunteers go out every night ensuring that vulnerable rough sleepers
have the basic supplies to make their lives more bearable.
None of this would be possible without the hard work and generous donations from our volunteers which we desperately rely on!
These two wonderful groups provide hot food, cakes and puddings, sandwiches, tea, coffee, soup and a varied assortment of sweet treats. They hand out much needed clothing, sleeping bags, wet wipes and sanitary products. In addition to handing out these invaluable items, they are offering time to have a chat, to listen and to put smiles on faces! Above all to let a person know they are cared for and worth it and that there is hope!
Basically our volunteers remind people who live on the streets that they are not invisible!I feel incredibly honoured to be part be part of this and want to support in any way that I can.
By taking part in this this challenge it means I have the opportunity to raise badly needed funds and raise awareness for the plight of the homeless.

Please make a donation if you can.Even the smallest amount will make such a big difference to someone who is less fortunate than we are.No one should have to sleep on the streets!

Please help me to make a change!

If you feel you would like to become more involved or learn more about what we do please feel free to join either of these groups.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
