About The Good Life Orphanage & SBM School

We provide a safe & loving environment for orphaned / abandoned / vulnerable children just north of Mombasa, Kenya. The children receive three meals daily, access to healthcare when required & a good quality education at our adjoining SBM School. Since opening our gates in 2008 over 100 children have enjoyed "The Good Life", some have been adopted, some reunited with extended family we have managed to trace, sadly some have died as they were just too poorly by the time they reached us and we have 64 children remaining with us aged from a newborn baby, Jamie, who arrived with us on the 3rd June 2017 just a few hours old to Collins who is our oldest boy at 16 years old. Our adjoining SBM School is a centre of learning in the middle of the mayhem that exists in the surrounding area where along with 50 of our orphans a further 300 children from impoverished backgrounds have access to an excellent standard of education for free, it has transformed the area and continues to do so on a daily basis.

Sisters & Misters Spin to Win

450 miles for The Good Life OrphanageAs part of the inaugural Wonderful Week from the 2nd to the 10th of September, two twin sisters and their silly boyfriends will be aiming to ride a combined 450 miles in support of The Goodlife Orphanage & SMB School. We want to try and raise 500 to support this cause! Its fair to say Ed and I have become a little obsessed with cycling over the summer, and it wont be the first time weve attempted to drag our lovely girlfriends onto bikes. But this time were setting the bar high because we want to support the amazing work done by one orphanage in Kikambala, Kenya. The Good Life Orphanage gives a second chance to orphaned children in an area of the Kenyan coast that's close to where many visit on holiday. The charity has taken in over 50 orphaned children, and provides them with food, medical care and vitally, education. The teachers are there to teach, but also to act as loving parents which these kids do not have for one reason or another. The charity is - much like Wonderful - 100 giving, which means the costs of administration, travel and accommodation ARE NOT covered by donations. Every pound we manage to raise will go to the school itself. The ChallengeDuring the Wonderful Week, Ed will be cycling up mountains in the Alps made famous by the Tour de France (most wouldnt call it a holiday!) and hell be posting updates on his rides to social media. Lucy, Annie and I will be racking up the miles after work by doing a series of spinning classes indoors, and also some big rides at the weekend. Weve pledged to reach and combined 450 miles and well update on our progress via Facebook and Twitter.Well be putting a lot of pedaling hours in for this cause so please show your support by making a donation or even just sharing our page. Go one day without a beer or glass of wine and youve contributed to the future of these kids!Thank you!!!!

Our wonderful partners

Our wonderful partners - who support us with cash and services - make it possible for us to pass EVERY PENNY raised from your fundraising efforts and generous donations to our charities, including Gift Aid. Of course, we would be unable to do so without them.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
