Forest Marathon - Supporting the Heart of England Forest
I am taking on this 17 mile challenge to raise funds for the Heart of England Forest, walking with Team Burgoland teammate Jo. The Heart of England Forest (www.heartofenglandforest.com) is England's largest new native broadleaf forest, and is already making a massive difference both for people and for wildlife. Over 1.6 million trees have been planted over 6,000 acres already, linking up fragments of ancient and mature woodland. But with a vision of creating a 30,000 acre "lung" for the West Midlands, there's still a way to go. The Forest Marathon is organised by the Forest Marathon Association, who already donate 2 trees to the Heart of England Forest for every entrant. So, the Forest is benefiting both ways! And, as most of the route wends its way through the northerly, undulating part of the Forest, the scenery will be stunning, too. I would be really grateful for any support you are able to give, to help us to plant tomorrow's great native woodland. Better still, come and join me! Thank you.
