About The HoverAid Trust

HoverAid work with remote communities in Madagascar where hunger, disease and a lack of clean water affect the health of millions. HoverAid reach unreachable villages when Africa floods, providing relief organisations with access to those most in need.

This year we've already treated more than three thousand people living communities far away from roads. We've also cleaned wells and provided water purification kits, rice and seed to hundreds of families affected by the three cyclones this year.

We'd love to do more, and whilst it sounds glib, it's absolutely true, that we can only achieve what we do with you as part of the HoverAid family!

Abseiling the Orbit for the people of Madagascar

On October 6th myself and 34 other people will abseil down the Orbit – the 114m high structure in the Queen Elizabeth Park that was built for the London Olympics. The event is hoping to raise £10,000 for HoverAid to fund the next hovercraft missions that provide aid and development to remote communities in Madagascar.
Most of the 25 million Malagasy people live in rural areas and 90% of the roads are dirt so during the wet season when the country receives most of its 1.4m of
annual rainfall, many roads become impassable even with 4x4 trucks.
Madagascar ranks in the top ten countries for most cyclone hits in the world, with 1.5 a year affecting two thirds of the country. There is often no electricity or internet where the charity works and often no radio either, so how it relays information to people is difficult. It currently uses a taxi and then a canoe to visit each village and tell the mayor who passes the message on to the people.
In May alone 1,586 people were treated by HoverAid through medical safari clinics. Last year nine different areas were given aid relief including clear water and sanitation programmes following flooding and cyclones. HoverAid also partners with non-governmental organisations and local authorities to provide basic health care for isolated communities in extreme poverty. Please give generously...and even come and watch us scream all the way down!

Our wonderful partners

Our wonderful partners - who support us with cash and services - make it possible for us to pass EVERY PENNY raised from your fundraising efforts and generous donations to our charities, including Gift Aid. Of course, we would be unable to do so without them.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
