Team Ant & Courts’s story

Kenny Waste Management Ltd are proud to be a corporate partner of The Christie. Through our Social Enterprise, Driving Change, we aim to raise a minimum of £3,000 in aide of their Resources for Paediatric Patients within their Teenage & Young Adult Unit. Each and every year, the young people within their care finish their treatment and The Christie want to give something back by offering them a gift. Driving Change was launched in 2018 with a view to supporting the local community around our Head Office in Greater Manchester. As part of this initiative we have partnered with The Christie and our amazing staff are taking part in various challenges, throughout the year, to raise funds. Courtney & I wanted to take part in Rough Runner after watching videos of the event on social media and thought how fun it would be to take part! We want to raise lots of money for The Christie as we both believe that the work they do in battling cancer is invaluable and every penny counts in the fight towards ending cancer altogether. So come on, dig deep, or give what you can for a great cause and come along to the event as I personally cannot wait top watch Courtney stumble and fall around the course!

Anthony.

The Christie Charitable Fund

The Christie Charitable Fund supports the development of cancer prevention, treatment, research and education through investment in staff, equipment, facilities and other support services at the Christie Hospital in Manchester. We provide enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Gifts from the public make a huge difference to the care and treatment that we are able to provide to our patients and their families. The Christie is the largest single-site cancer centre in Europe.

The charity only exists because of the fantastic support from all of our amazing fundraisers. We really value everything that our supporters do for us whether it's raising funds or giving up your time to volunteer for us. In return, we promise to ensure that we are spending your donations as cost effectively as possible to benefit as many of our patients as possible.

The charity provides continuous funding for a number of projects and services throughout the hospital including the Cancer Information Centre, Wig Service, Art Room and Complementary Therapies. We are also raising money for major developments including the Proton Beam Therapy centre and Integrated Procedures unit.

Registered Charity Number: 1049751.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
