Steve’s story
Sam has her chosen charity and this is mine. The older I've got the less materialistic I've become. If you want to know the extent of my extravagance, my most recent purchase was a 3 pack of pants (on offer, I'll have you know...). The point of the evening is to spend time with our nearest and dearest, not to get see what gifts we can get from everyone.
So why MIND? Well, as the world seemingly spins faster and faster, we live more and more stretched and distracted lives. Friendships are more fleeting and we become less able to connect to each other. Social media seems to run (and ruin?) our lives. We hear much about self esteem issues and loneliness is now at epidemic proportions both in the old and young alike. We face a constant battle to stay upright.
I've struggled over the years with my own demons. I've been to some dark places in my time but have managed to tame the beast a bit but it is tough. Not everyone is so lucky and not everyone can work it out for themselves. Not everyone has the resources to get propped up, so this is my way of offering something to those who need help.
So no obligation, no expectation, just throwing it out there in the event you want to contribute.
See you on the dance floor...working on my shapes as I write!
