A Christian Adventure for Young People

Tuesday 28th July - Friday 31st August 2020

For Children aged 5-11 years in Chesham.

Backpackers is organised and part funded by Churches Together in Chesham, (a.k.a. The Chesham Ecumenical Association)

We do not make any charge for Backpackers, but welcome any donations. It costs an average of £80 per child to put on Backpackers for the four days.

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

Chesham Ecumenical Association is the registered Charity Commission name for Churches Together in Chesham.

Activities of Churches Together for Chesham include:

  • Backpackers - a summer holiday club for up to 300 children.
  • Songs of Praise in the Park
  • Easter celebrations
  • Lectures by invited guest speakers

in addition to the many different activities held by each individual church.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
