Steve’s story

Last September I decided to try and get fitter and started running. It went well for a while but with this long hot summer involving far too many beers and BBQ's it sort of all went wrong again.

So now I have decided to give myself the challenge to run two half marathons (Bristol and Cheltenham) on consecutive Sundays in September. (23rd and 30th)

I thought it would be selfish to allow all the upcoming pain to only be for my own benefit so have decided to try and use the effort to raise money for Tetbury Area Youth and Community Trust. (TAYCT)

I was part of founding TAYCT back in 2011 and have always been involved with it. TAYCT makes a huge difference in the small town in which it I live and any spare pennies you can give to help it will make the hours of training and sore legs feel worth it.

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

Tetbury Area Youth & Community Trust

Tetbury Area Youth and Community Trust was set up to replace the council youth service which was closed in 2011. We aim to provide a safe environment with fun activities for young people aged between 11-18 years in the town of Tetbury, Gloucestershire. We offer drop-in youth sessions, mentoring, and short term projects as well as a Job Club based in the community, for any age which provides additional support for all who seek to secure employment. Based in a rural setting with limited facilities and services for young people, we want to provide recreational, educational and cultural experiences that will elevate young people's life chances, help them reach their potential as well as further develop support services for young people and their families in the area who are in need. We are committed to work with other agencies in the area to help make this possible and provide strong relationships in the community.

Registered Charity Number: 1114155.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
