Team James’s story

Along with with Phil Neville and others, we're taking part in the Wonderful Week to raise money for charity through our completely fee-free fundraising site,

We're supporting The Christie Charity by running and walking a combined distance of 106 miles during the week - so we only need a fiver for every mile to beat our target of £500 ;-)

Carmen will walk 25 miles in London, Dan will run 10k in London, Elisa is running 20k in Cheshire, Gabi is walking 50 miles around Paris and I'll be taking part in the Great North Run in Newcastle on Sunday 10th September (which is Gabi's birthday too!).

We're really excited about the Wonderful Week and very happy to be raising money for such a worthy, local charity. It's fabulous that everybody in the family has agreed to take part and we all thank you so much for your sponsorship and words of encouragement.

Please share our fundraising page on social media using the hashtag #wonderfulweek.

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

The Christie Charitable Fund

The Christie Charitable Fund supports the development of cancer prevention, treatment, research and education through investment in staff, equipment, facilities and other support services at the Christie Hospital in Manchester. We provide enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Gifts from the public make a huge difference to the care and treatment that we are able to provide to our patients and their families. The Christie is the largest single-site cancer centre in Europe.

The charity only exists because of the fantastic support from all of our amazing fundraisers. We really value everything that our supporters do for us whether it's raising funds or giving up your time to volunteer for us. In return, we promise to ensure that we are spending your donations as cost effectively as possible to benefit as many of our patients as possible.

The charity provides continuous funding for a number of projects and services throughout the hospital including the Cancer Information Centre, Wig Service, Art Room and Complementary Therapies. We are also raising money for major developments including the Proton Beam Therapy centre and Integrated Procedures unit.

Registered Charity Number: 1049751.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
