Team Ripon Choral Cyclists’s story

On Saturday November 10th 2018, to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War, Ripon Choral Society is performing Benjamin Britten's War Requiem in Ripon Cathedral. This magnificent work is on an epic scale, and is very expensive to put on. As a fundraiser to promote the concert, and to allow us all to reflect on the events of 2014-18, a group of Ripon Choral Society members will cycle the entire length of the Western Front, from the Belgian Coast to the Swiss border, in 8 days of cycling, May 8th-16th 2018. We'll call in at monuments, museums and cemeteries along the way. We'll be blogging about our experience as we go. Please support us by sponsoring the cycle ride. 80 of the proceeds will go to Ripon Choral Society, 20 to the Royal British Legion.

Ripon Choral Society

Ripon Choral Society is a thriving and friendly community choir under the musical directorship of John Dunford. We are a large choir of about 150 singing members. We rehearse on a Wednesday night and we perform a varied repertoire of choral music, usually 4 times a year in Ripon Cathedral.

Registered Charity Number: 500486.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
