Team Ripon Choral Cyclists’s story

On Saturday November 10th 2018, to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War, Ripon Choral Society is performing Benjamin Britten's War Requiem in Ripon Cathedral. This magnificent work is on an epic scale, and is very expensive to put on. As a fundraiser to promote the concert, and to allow us all to reflect on the events of 2014-18, in May 2018 a group of Ripon Choral Society members cycled the entire length of the Western Front, from the Belgian Coast to the Swiss border, in 8 days of cycling. We called in at monuments, museums and cemeteries along the way.

The ride is over, but you can still support us by sponsoring the cycle ride. 80% of the proceeds will go to Ripon Choral Society, 20% to the Royal British Legion.

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
