NADJIE’s story

I love a fundraising cycle challenge. I have never fundraised for the Shine Bright Foundation and it’s fitting that my hardest challenge to date is for them. Of course I have a very personal reason for doing this. The Shine Bright Foundation exists to raise funding to aid the research into Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC), promote early diagnosis by raising awareness of symptoms, and to provide support to individuals directly affected by the illness. Triple-negative breast cancer is different from the three more common types of breast cancer. It is harder to treat and aggressive. Because it is aggressive and rare, battling triple-negative breast cancer can be difficult, and fewer treatment options are available. Research and support for TNBC is so important as there are no in treatment or preventative drugs available for TNBC. The treatment options for TNBC are limited to surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I will be a 4 year thriver of TNBC in February 2019 and want to help others who are not so lucky to have better outcomes and receive the support and treatment they need.  This challenge is in memory of my dear friend Augusta who lost her life to secondary breast cancer in January 2019

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

Shine Bright Foundation

Shine Bright Foundation was launched in November 2013 in memory of Sarah Bennett. Sarah passed away in August 2013 aged 32 yrs after suffering from TRIPLE NEGATIVE BREAST CANCER (TNBC). TNBC is a type of breast cancer which unlike other types of breast cancer does not have receptors for the hormones oestrogen and progesterone or the protein HER2.

It was Sarah's request that her family and friends establish a charity to raise money for the research into TNBC,and also to offer support to people in the local area affected by breast cancer.

We are in contact with leading oncologist Dr.Sacha Howell at The Christie Hospital Manchester, who have a team researching into TNBC and other breast cancers. Part of the money raised by Shine Bright Foundation goes directly to Dr.Howell's team for research into TNBC and other types of breast cancer.

During their breast cancer journey many people have found that alternative therapies running along side medical intervention to be beneficial.

We work alongside Simon and Katie Bailey of the Navitas Centre Crewe to provide 6 treatments funded by Shine Bright Foundation for anyone with breast cancer in the Crewe & Nantwich area.

The treatments available are reiki & reflexology & mindfulness sessions for individuals living with breast cancer. In addition we will fund a Reiki (level1) course so that people can learn to treat themselves.

As a local charity Shine Bright Foundation relies on the good will of individuals and groups to help raise funds through events and challenges..Whether it is running a marathon or to organising a cake sale every penny counts. We are always grateful and very humbled by the effort and time anyone dedicates to Shine Bright Foundation. If YOU are planning any events and feel able to raise funds for Shine Bright Foundation we would love to hear from you..Thank you.xx

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
