Those of you that know me know that I love a fundraising cycle challenge. Well I have never fundraised for the Shine Bright Foundation and it’s fitting that my hardest challenge to date is for them. Of course I have a very personal reason for doing this. The Shine Bright Foundation exists to raise funding to aid the research into Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC), promote early diagnosis by raising awareness of symptoms, and to provide support to individuals directly affected by the illness. Triple-negative breast cancer is different from the three more common types of breast cancer. It is harder to treat and aggressive. Because it is aggressive and rare, battling triple-negative breast cancer can be difficult, and fewer treatment options are available. Research and support for TNBC is so important as there are no in treatment or preventative drugs available for TNBC. The treatment options for TNBC are limited to surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I will be a 4 year thriver of TNBC in February 2019 and want to help others who are not so lucky to have better outcomes and receive the support and treatment they need.
