Team BfR 2019’s story
I am hoping to cycle 50 miles from Clydebank to Edinburgh in the Pedal for Scotland 2019 event to raise funds for Bikes for Refugees (Scotland).
This organisation helps New Scots (refugees/asylum seekers) to make Scotland their home by helping families link with local communities, essential services and people. New Scots use their bikes to cycle to valuable language classes, essential healthcare appointments, and to seek work and volunteering opportunities. People use bikes on a daily basis to cycle to college and school. Bikes reduce social isolation and loneliness and provide opportunities to meet other people and to make new friends. BfR has so far distributed 800+ bikes to isolated individuals and families in Scotland seeking safety and shelter from war, violence, torture and persecution. Please sponsor me and help to get more bikes on the road for New Scots.
