Martin’s story

As many of you already know my son Aiden has some complex behaviour issues and has in 2019 been diagnosed with tics and tourette syndrome. We knew little of the condition other than the stereotypes portrayed in the media.

Through internet searches we came across Tourettes action who have helped our understanding immensely with the information available through their website. Aiden has himself found their website a great source of inspiration in creating a presentation to raise awareness of his condition within school. They have provided him with tools to help quickly explain his condition to adults who may be unfamiliar with his conditions.

Tourette syndrome is a widely misunderstood condition and Tourettes Action is essential for sufferers and their carers.

This is not a headline charity, people do not automatically think of them when deciding which charity to support. For this reason i am running 2 marathons on their behalf on the 5th and 26th of April. I would appreciate any support big or small.

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
