christopher’s story

On 26th September ill be travelling to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. All up its 8 full days hiking a 66km route summiting the mountain at 5895m above sea level. I will be doing the trek with www.globaladventurechallenges.com and I'm fundraising for a family friend Ruben. Ruben was born with myotubular myopathy a muscle weakening disease which weakens the muscles and causes major problems for breathing and feeding meaning 24/7 care. The Myotubular trust raises money to fund research to help find a cure and treatment of the disease. along with research the trust also provides vital support for little Rueben and his family. All donations would be greatly appreciated by me, little Ruben and his family.

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

Myotubular Trust

The Myotubular Trust is a European charity that is raising research funds towards a cure or treatment for myotubular myopathy, a devastating muscle weakness affecting babies from birth.

Myotubular myopathy is a rare and devastating muscle weakness, affecting mainly boys, from birth. These babies and children are at a constant risk of dying, and usually from complications due to simple colds and coughs from which they are literally too weak to recover. Most do not survive their babyhood or early childhood, and very sadly only 1% makes it to 10 years old.Our goal is to help fund research to find a treatment or cure for myotubular myopathy, giving children a real chance of living. The positive news is that there are recent and major breakthroughs in the world of muscle disease and that means there is real hope of a cure. Since the Trust was founded in 2006, over £2,000,000 has been raised and fourteen exciting and promising research grants have been awarded by the Myotubular Trust.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
