Donna’s story

Our life changed drastically overnight in September 2015, when our beautiful daughter was taken over by the debilitating & rare condition of both PANS & PANDAS, causing full on psychosis. Our family battles daily with the symptoms of this neurological disease that affects children. In a nutshell, it’s a faulty immune system causing encephalitis (brain swelling). Imagine being so anxious to leave the house, that a child would miss holidays, parties, school and play dates that they once loved. Imagine not being able to eat for weeks on end, due to a fear of being sick, not sleeping for years due to being frightened and imagine being a parent where your child is so

poorly that they ask you to end their life. Most of our close friends know how this terrible condition affects our daily life, but no one really knows how bad things are. Stuart, Maya and I are all exhausted dealing with it. I am going to walk up Snowdon at the end of September and I am doing this to both raise awareness and money for a great charity that has helped us more than words can say. #Panspandasuk.org

Please help me raise my target to achieve this!!

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

PANS/PANDAS UK

PANS and PANDAS are a set of conditions which result in inflammation of the brain, causing a variety of neuro-psychiatric conditions such as OCD, tics and eating disorders. Please see our website for more information. www.panspandasuk.org

PANS PANDAS UK is a Charity which was established by a dedicated and determined group of parents with children who are affected by PANS or PANDAS in order to raise awareness and understanding of these conditions amongst the general public and medical professionals.  PANS PANDAS UK are working closely with a Network of Doctors in order to ensure better diagnosis and early effective treatment for those suffering with these little understood, but life changing conditions.

It is the mission of PANS PANDAS UK to ensure that these conditions are known about in every GP Surgery, every school and every hospital, so every child can receive an early diagnosis and effective treatment.

Registered Charity Number: 1178484.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
