UPDATE 28 AUGUST

Thanks to all of you who have donated so far to our fundraising for the Gorkha Development Scheme.

To add support to the fundraising, my fabulous sister Heather pledged to walk 100 miles this August, a HUGE personal challenge for her, and with just a few days to go she is on target to complete her goal! Lots of people have donated to Heather to add to our fantastic total, so again, thanks to everyone for their support.

----------------------------------------------

This Spring I spent 3 weeks in Gorka working in local government schools with the youngest children and their teachers (nursery, class 1 & 2) as well as supporting the teacher in the class for children with special needs. Working in bare classrooms trying to support a more interactive style of teaching with very limited dirty resources, NO books or toys was quite a challenge! I’m now passionate about raising funds to continue the work I started during this visit. Please help me raise funds to; provide some basic toys and stimulating resources for the children in the special needs class, picture books for the younger children and sponsorship for children from extremely poor families to attend school. Each sponsored child gets the opportunity to go to school with a new school uniform, shoes, school bag, exercise books and stationary items and has access to sanitary education.

Everybody involved with GDS both in the U.K. and Gorkha does so voluntarily, so every pound you donate will go directly to Gorkha You can be sure your money will make a lasting difference.

Many thanks

Fiona xx

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
