Team Trees for Tomorrow’s story

Caitlin's Kickstart Award welcomes the new year with an act of hope for tomorrow and a fund-raiser for the charity. With this in mind, the Trustees and Patrons invite you to donate a tree, or two, or three, to the continuing greening of our planet.

The Back Story. In 1998, Bob and Susie Cunning kindly invited me to plant a black poplar in Caitlin's memory on their land at Newcastle on Clun. This beautiful tree is now over 40 feet tall.

All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.

The Caitlin Hurcombe Kickstart Fund

Caitlins Kickstart Award is a UK Shropshire-based charity, founded in 2001. We give financial help to applicants in their first year of further/higher education.

The present Award is a gift of 1,000 to winners; runners-up receive a cash grant of between 100-500. The Award is not available for a gap year.

As of 2017 we have gifted over 40,000.

In 2014, CKA established two associated Awards:

The Mary Hayter Memorial Award is offered nationally to students with a disability who are engaged in full or part time education and who would benefit from a cash grant to help with project-related expenses. The first recipient of the Mary Hayter Award of 1,000 is Imogen Godwin, who required a Braille-dedicated computer for her course work. Applicants are invited to apply personally. You may also nominate a candidate for this Award.

Caitlins Kickstart Award for Outstanding Achievement is an occasional award offered to applicants/recipients/supporters past and present of Caitlins Kickstart Award. Applicants are invited to apply personally. You may also nominate candidates for this Award. The first CKA Outstanding Achievement Award of 1,000 went to Sophie Hayter.

Registered Charity Number: 1092350.

What makes us wonderful?

We recognise the selfless commitment made by fundraisers who train for months to run marathons, face their fears by jumping out of aeroplanes or open their homes to the community for charity bakes and coffee mornings. We believe the charities they support should receive EVERY PENNY from their fundraising efforts.

We also believe that Gift Aid (a scheme enabling charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers) should be directed IN FULL to the charities. This is why the Wonderful Organisation does not generate profit (or even cover costs) by deducting money from fundraisers' sponsors or Gift Aid contributions.

We are a non-profit organisation funded entirely by like-minded, philanthropic businesses. That's what makes us wonderful!
