In May and June 2018 MÓTUS will present their 2018 Festival: You, Me: Dance. This year's festival is all about the democracy of dance - anyone and everyone can and we want to celebrate that fact! We've invited artists from all over the UK to join us and will be presenting lots of work in our main festival fortnight starting on May 29th.
This includes work with young people in a number of schools around the city. We're planning
- 3 new pieces of work in local schools using the Queen's birthday as our theme
- 2 new pieces created by mapdance in a further two schools
- offering workshops with Body Politic whose work explores relationships between fathers and their sons in the African-Carribean community
- a full day with Rambert upskilling students currently involved in vocational training, developing the talent being nurtured here in MK.
MÓTUS is led by three professional dancers based in Milton Keynes who have over 40 years of shared experience working in dance as performers, choreographers and teachers. The team recognise the value of dance as an art form but also as a way to develop and maintain health and wellbeing, both physically and mentally. The work MÓTUS produces is inclusive, accessible and engaging.
We're delighted to have received funding from Arts Council England and have been supported by the Milton Keynes Community Foundation and as part of the terms of our funding we have to raise £500 to support our activity.
