CARAS (Community Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers) is a charity based in South London dedicated to helping refugees and asylum seekers build secure, fulfilling lives in the UK. Each year, we support 600 individuals, providing essential skills and connections that enable them to thrive in their new community.
Arriving in the UK can be overwhelming, with many newcomers facing language barriers, limited resources, and a lack of knowledge about the asylum system. CARAS bridges these gaps by offering person-centred support that addresses each individual’s unique needs, helping them feel safe, connected, and empowered. Our programmes are designed to create firm foundations for a better future. We offer English language classes, employability programming, and casework support that connects people to vital services such as legal and mental health resources. Social and wellbeing activities, including women’s yoga, youth sports programming, and a weekly Coffee Afternoon and Youth Club to provide a sense of belonging and encourage meaningful social connections.
All our programmes are grounded in our mission to foster resilience and inclusion, ensuring that each person has the support they need to envision and achieve a brighter future in the UK. Over the past 16 years, CARAS has built a warm, welcoming community where refugees and asylum seekers feel valued and supported as they navigate the challenges of resettlement.
We rely on the generosity of our supporters to continue this work. If you would like to help refugees and asylum seekers in the UK, please consider supporting CARAS and contributing to our mission. Together, we can empower individuals to build brighter, more stable futures.
