Family Help Darlington CIO

Established in 1976, Family Help Darlington CIO is an award winning independent charity, which is home to Darlington's only women's refuge - one of the longest standing, independent refuges in the UK.

Family Help provides safe temporary accommodation and support to women and children whose lives are affected by domestic abuse and whom may suffer serious adverse health consequences as a result of sexual, physical and psychological abuse.

Normally, Family Help accommodates around 60 women and 100 children per year suffering domestic abuse, providing them with a safe, welcoming home and a supportive all-female team who encourage progress towards positive and safe outcomes, free from violence and abuse. Family Help's experienced and knowledgeable staff ensure a holistic person-centred service with designated support staff, counselling support, children and young people's worker and move-on provision for our clients.
