The Talking Taboos Foundation

Our mission at Talking Taboos is simple: to shine a light on topics that are ignored or hidden from view, whose unspoken nature isolates and prevents people from seeking help. Finding and understanding how taboos evolve, who is included and who is left behind is at the core of our charity's aims. We do this through a mix of research, events and collaborations on all things taboo.Last year our charity launched the Today’s Taboos report -covering four subject areas; Unmentionable Mental Health, Unruly Bowels, Shameful Sex and Daily Disgusts. This year we held sold out events that offer a deep dive into each subject area. We are now getting ready to launch our report for Today's Taboos 2024 - sign up to our mailing list via the website to be the first to see the four most troublesome taboos of 2024! Our insights have already helped address teenage self-harm (published in The Lancet) and led to the creation of a toolkit encouraging a community-based approach to the loneliness pandemic.
