Rags to Riches is a registered charity that works to relieve the plight of Romanian dogs.   By fostering them in the UK and finding them loving adopted homes. We support safe private shelters and raise donations for veterinary treatments, micro-chipping, vaccinations, and neutering.  We also help with food for shelter, street and forest dogs, and spay/neutering programmes for street dogs.  Rags to Riches safely bring dogs to the UK to experienced foster home and after careful home checks and assessments they go to loving, caring homes. Romania.  A country where being a dog is most likely to be a sad, lonely, hard, painful and often dangerous existence. Caught by dog catchers they are left in public ‘shelters’ where their future is bleak, left with little or no food or water they succumb to disease, fights and starvation. A country whose culture does not believe in neuter, spay or euthanasia. Stray and shelter dogs rely on volunteers to feed and water them Dog catchers are paid per dog they catch-it can be a lucrative career-their handling of the dogs is brutal with dogs often sustaining injuries and left severely traumatised In Romania it is commonplace for dogs and puppies to be abandoned by the roadside, in forests or the public shelters when they are pregnant, sick, or old.
