St Ethelwold’s House has been at the heart of the Abingdon community for years—set up as a Charity in 1982 to offer a welcoming spiritual centre, a place of peace and beauty, hospitality and sanctuary.
It is home to many groups and activities that help shape Abingdon. The beautiful garden, tended by volunteers, is a haven for our local community offering a space where people can make connections with others and with the natural world.
Recently, we had to carry out emergency structural works in the house, expecting costs of £40,000. Work revealed major problems in our ancient building, and final costs will be £140,000. Trustees had saved £70,000 for ”a rainy day” and upcoming other repairs but now another £70,000 plus is needed to keep us going.
In a polarised and challenging world we give a place of refuge and replenishment for all.
