The Bury Project is a local Charity in Bury (Greater Manchester). We run a Debt Centre in association with CAP (Christians Against Poverty) which provides professional support to help people get out of debt. This service is provided free of charge to applicants from all backgrounds.Our Debt Centre Manager works with trained volunteers to give additional personal support to clients. We are also looking to train volunteers to help run a CAP Money Management course, which will help people develop healthy personal budgeting.The causes of debt are varied and can be complex. When debt gets out of control it becomes overwhelming and seriously affects family life. It can cause anxiety, family conflict, food poverty, mental health issues, and sometimes relationship breakdown. When people are helped to get free of debt their relief is profound.
