Our society will feel the effects of the COVID-19 virus for decades, from mental traumas and bereavements to those experiencing long-term symptoms. The King's Health Partners research team needs funds to support new and vital research into the long-term effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Your donations will go directly to the Chronic Disease Research Foundation who will give grants to help support COVID-19 medical and scientific research at King's Health Partners.
The research will follow volunteers, with and without COVID-19, using whole-body imaging and other tests to assess how COVID infections damage vital body organs. Many questions are unanswered. We want to find explanations for critical concerns: Are there longer-term changes in the brain, lungs and heart of people who have had COVID? Do these changes explain long-COVID symptoms such as fatigue and breathlessness? How does Covid-19 change the ageing process, which influences many other diseases?
A generous donor has agreed to match every pound we raise to the amount of £4 million, effectively doubling your donation. By funding this unique, independent study, you are supporting efforts to reduce suffering, help our healthcare system, and understand the impact of COVID on long-term health and ageing.
Thank you from the Lead Researchers at King's College London.
