We are a charity building a museum and archives. Having set up fifty county drop off points to secure the material we are now moving onto the next phase. The museum will explore the making of Britain, its identity, its traditions, and what makes it similar to and also different from its neighbours - and how they have gotten on over the past 2000 years. From Alfred the Great to decimalisation, Pope Adrian IV to Ted Heath, much of this is often no longer taught in schools. This will be broken down into the following museum zones:(1) The shaping of Britain/Europe from Boadicea to 1950 - the nation state, identity, and influences (2) Europeanism and Euroscepticism 1950-2015, both the view from these isles and as seen from the continent (3) Brexit and aftermath 2016-2020 (+) A Special Relationship Gallery, exploring a key aspect of Global Britain and arguably the most important alliance in the modern world, but one which over 250 years has had very many ups and downs. This would be a hub for visiting academics and politicians and help foster the Special Relationship today.
