For more than 50 years, 1st Wentwood Scout Group has given local young people a place to belong, grow in confidence, learn skills for life and make friendships that last for decades. Today, our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts continue to thrive, but the home that has supported generations of children now urgently needs our help. Volunteers built the Pike Den in the early 1980s and, although the building remains safe to use, it is now clearly showing its age. Floor damage is affecting the rear section, and major refurbishment is needed, along with the kitchen, toilets, and main hall.
We need to raise £150,000 to secure The Pike Den for the next generation. We have already raised £30,000 over an extended period through fundraising and allocation of our own reserves, but we cannot do this alone. Every donation, grant or offer of support will help protect a much-loved community building and ensure that hundreds more local children can experience the confidence, adventure, friendships and opportunities that Scouting provides. We would also be incredibly grateful to any individuals, community groups, clubs, schools or businesses who would like to fundraise on our behalf. Every event, challenge or fundraising effort, however large or small, will help us move closer to our goal. This is not simply about repairing an ageing building — it is about protecting the future of Scouting in our community for the next 50 years.
