We give a hand up, not a hand out. We believe in people, not things. And in 13 years working with the very poorest, most marginalised and most abused people in Kenya, we have pretty much never been disappointed.

The (mainly) women we set up in business are astounding people. Strong and resourceful, brave and generous in ways that most people here can only imagine.

We rescue women and children (and occasionally men) who are the victims of rape, sexual and other abuse, who are marginalised and deprived of work, home and food, who are in fear for their lives and who have nowhere else to go. We are their last, best hope.

We frequently work in secret places, hidden places and we communicate with care.

We identify and meet with the women who need our help, we discuss with them a business set up that will be not just sustainable, but expandable. A business they can do in safety and which will bring them in enough money for a life free of fear, a life where the children go to school and are not beaten, a life with the women in control of their own story. And best of all, because of the way we work, we can do this for an average of less than 20 quid per woman and children. Yes. Twenty pounds. No staff costs, no standing running costs, apart from five economy airfares a year and transport expenses within Kenya, your donation does nothing but help people.
