Skye Cancer Care SCIO

Skye Cancer Care is a charity based on the Isle of Skye. We aim to help people with cancer (and other life limiting illnesses) and their families by supporting the provision of 'hospice' type palliative care locally rather than people having to travel far from home at an already difficult time.

We provide equipment for use by the District Nursing teams, to help support families to care for their loved ones at home, if that is their wish. We also provide specialist equipment for use in the hospitals to promote comfort and provide a more homely environment.

In order to upskill clinical staff in palliative care, we fund training for local medical and nursing staff each year.

Some of our trustees are also involved in the planning of future palliative care provision on Skye and in time we hope to be able to make a significant financial contribution to establishing an appropriate service for the area.
