Steve’s story
One of my first meetings with Grant Shepherd (CEO of World Sports Ministries) was at a school I was teaching in. He coached a group of students to play cricket at lunchtime. However, this was not all he coached them in. Any opportunity to develop good sporting/life values was seized upon and Grant naturally shared about his living faith. Some years later, it was the turn of my children to engage with sports camps run by Grant and his team, held during the summer months in Bath. Two of my daughters also became team leaders which developed their skills at leading others.
There are now likely thousands of youngsters over the years who have benefited from the work done by this charity. The drive now is to extend this ministry to third world countries. Here the basic sports equipment, which we take for granted in the UK, is often not available for the many youngsters who would dearly love to participate.
I am running the Bath Half Marathon in October to help raise funds to help our international partners have the equipment they need AND also to support some of their initiatives so that young people in those countries get opportunities like UK children do. I also know that those who coach will share their living faith in God to many young people.
