Mark’s story
Welcome to Team Dorset Dawdlers’ Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run 2025 campaign page.
The team (Mark and James) will be using James' white Triumph 2500 PI MKII – which has not been driven for more than two years and is currently undergoing a major rebuild by James – so major that it is still in 100s of individual components that somehow need to be bolted back together before October.
The Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run is a fund raising event that has taken place every two years (almost) since 1966. A collection of increasingly old and tired Triumph cars are driven 2000 miles continually from Knebworth in Hertfordshire, to John O'Groats, to Land's End and back to Knebworth, visiting 15 or so pre-arranged Control locations as we drive around the UK. It is considered to be one of the longest standing single make car events held in the world. The youngest cars taking part are now 40 years old and the oldest are over 70.
Driving 2000 miles in 48 hours may not seem that much fun, but it’s the camaraderie amongst the teams, the wonderful cars, fantastic roads and scenery and pure sense of achievement on completion that makes the event so addictive and appealing.
For each event a different charity is supported and this year we have chosen Parkinson’s UK. To date, the event has raised over £890,000 for various UK charities. Last time, in 2023, the event raised over £80,000 for the Huntingdon’s Disease Association. This year, Club Triumph would like to raise at least £110,000 and push the grand total of fund raising to over £1 million!
Please support Parkinson's UK by making a pledge using ‘Wonderful’. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate, saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you once again for supporting us in this adventure
