Cara’s story

Lamont Farm Project is a an animal rescue and re-homing charity based in Erskine. It is run by volunteers, including the members of its kids club at the weekends.
Cara has been volunteering at Lamont Farm Project for a year now and spends her Saturdays feeding, cleaning out and caring for the animals - horses, llamas, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens, pigs, sheep and loads more. It is hard work but she loves it.
The farm is entirely funded by donations, and Cara wanted to do something to contribute to this and decided to set herself a bit of a challenge.
While Cara is a very active kid, she has not really previously taken to running, despite the encouragement of her dad and big sister. She therefore decided that something associated with running would be appropriately challenging for her. Over the last several weeks, she has been training up to do a 5k run. Despite some difficult moments early in the training programme, she is now ready to run a full 5k.
On Saturday 15th April 2023, Cara is going to take part in the Erskine Waterfront Parkrun, the local Parkrun for Lamont Farm Project. She will then go directly to the farm and do her full day of volunteering looking after the animals.
If you feel you could spare even a pound or two to help Cara reach her fundraising target, she, the farm and the animals would be hugely grateful.
(The need for funds became especially pressing for the farm last Friday when a fire broke out in the cabin they use for storage, breaks for the volunteers and a place to sleep for the farm’s cats. Thankfully, no animals or people were hurt, but sadly the police have said the fire was started deliberately. This has obviously been a huge blow to an organisation that always has to work hard to raise enough funds in order to continue their important work for the animals and their community.)
