Ian’s story
I have long had an ambition to complete a marathon and now after 40 years of thinking about it, it's time to give it a go.
Being somewhat old and decrepit now and suffering from arthritis in my feet, running is out of the question. I discovered about a year ago that I could row on the rowing machine so that's how I'm going to do it.
42195 meters is a long way and I anticipate it will take almost 4 hours, most people in the gym manage about 5 mins so I don't imagine it's going to be easy (or indeed pain free).
I have decided that this could be an opportunity to raise some money for keiran's legacy. They aim to provide defibrillators to be placed in the local community.
Quick access to a defibrillator makes a huge difference to the chances of a casualty in the event of an accident so I feel this is a very worthwhile thing to do. Please support them if you can. Thanks
