LAE’s story
Who are we?
We are a team of 12 state school students from Newham, one of London's most deprived boroughs.
What will we be doing?
We plan to embark on the adventure of a lifetime: a week-long sailing trip along the coast of the UK (at the end of June). This is something that we would usually be unable to experience.
We will be sailing with the Rona Trust. The Rona Trust is a wonderful charity that supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds by taking them on a sailing trip, during which they develop the skills necessary to navigate the world, such as a sense of responsibility, collaboration and adaptability. We hope to be the next fortunate group to set sail on this journey.
For us, this is a unique and exciting opportunity to equip ourselves with the tools needed to overcome the challenges life will bring, such as resilience and resourcefulness. Whilst on the boat, we will learn how to handle sails, keep watch and cook at sea, alongside a myriad of other engaging activities.
Without your support, we won't be able to embark on this trip, so any donations would be greatly appreciated.
