Kirstie’s story
The Rona Sailing Project is a local charity which helps young people as well as adults with special needs to develop a sense of responsibility, resourcefulness and teamwork that they can use throughout their lives, through sailing. People leave port as individuals but return as one crew having taken themselves out for their comfort zone and worked together to achieve something amazing that will stay with the forever. You can find out more about the work here: Rona Sailing Project
This summer we will be taking ourselves out of our comfort zone too, to raise much needed funds for this awesome charity. On 21st June we will be chasing the sun across the UK in a 205-mile cycling event which starts at sunrise on the east coast at Minster-on-Sea and ends at sunset on the west coast at the end of the pier at Weston-Super-Mare. Then on 5th July we will start a 6-day cycling adventure from Hayling Island to Paris and back. Over the 2 events we will be covering over 550miles.
This is a huge undertaking for both of us, particularly for Kirstie, who only took up cycling after lockdown and never thought she’d be taking part in a long-distance bike ride, let alone 2.
We know times are hard but anything you can spare to help us raise money for this brilliant charity would be great
