Martin’s story
I have been actively involved with Kirima Ltd. (The Charity) on behalf of St John’s Church Hartford since 2017 and it is currently my privilege to be the Chair of Trustees. Since 2017, through several visits to Kanungu district (including Nyakabungo Parents’ Primary School) I have seen first hand the life-changing impact on children’s lives that an education can provide.
Kirima Ltd. gives children the education they need to escape from a cycle of poverty, providing nursery, primary, secondary and college education and supporting children into their adult lives.
Kirima Ltd.works in Kanungu, a rural region of South West Uganda where people earn far below the national average of £2 per day. Most families rely on subsistence farming to survive.
This year, to get the funds we need to build on our work, a small group of UK supporters will walk 800 miles between us. We will start, along with other Trustees, with a ten mile walk on 31st August 2024 from Highgate to the Ugandan High Commission in Trafalgar Square. Helen and I will then aim to walk a further 90 miles over the next month.
So please give something if you can. A donor has promised to double whatever you contribute, and gift aid will add more, so giving £20 will let us send £50 to Uganda where it will achieve such a lot.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and please support if you are able to.
