Bovey Pool Lifeguard Team’s story

Our target is to swim the length of the River Teign (50km) in our pool for our energy fund.
The goal is to help raise funds for our energy project, safeguarding the future of Bovey Pool. Our lifeguards are swimming in hour blocks for 24 hours, starting at 18:00 on Thursday 1st September, all throughout the night and finishing on Friday 2nd September at 18:00.
We are used by individuals, families, schools, clubs, and other organisations for recreation, swimming lessons, health, and fitness. Our biggest income comes from ticket sales, however in order to make our pool accessible to as many people as possible, we also need to fundraise to ensure our survival.
With the cost of energy rising leading to an unprecedented increase in our running costs, donations are needed more than ever. To safeguard the future of our pool, we will be needing to radically change our heating system to ensure we don’t have to close our doors for a final time. We are envisaging the cost will be around the £75,000 to £100,000 mark. Whilst there are grants we will be looking at accessing to help with these costs, most will require our own fundraising efforts. Any donation regardless of size is most welcome.
All funds raised are going to support the pool!
