Maitrinaga’s story

Abhayavaca has completed the maximum of ten years working as Mitra convener at Glasgow Buddhist Centre.
We though some of you might want to contribute towards a gift to help him with the transition to his new career.
He is studying Healthcare Chaplaincy at Glasgow University with a view to working as a hospital chaplain.
As the men’s Mitra convenor for Scotland he has worked tirelessly for the benefit of men
journeying on the path; he’s been at beginners’ classes offering a warm welcome to those
starting their exploration of Buddhism in Triratna; meeting men and helping them as they
contemplate the step of becoming a Mitra and later that of asking for ordination. He’s been
there as a support on the journey to ordination and is a KM to many.
In the background,
there have been Mitra days, festivals and other events to organise as well as helping to support
Mitra/Order Member relationships. A very generous man he always seems to find time for a
meet up or a phone call and in our experience has been clear, kind and honest with his
advice.
