Nikhil’s story
2 nd Southampton Scouts has an unbroken history spanning 117 years, formed in 1908 as 2 nd
Hampton. The group being one of the first, with direct links to Lord Baden Powell. The
group built their current home, Arthur Dawkins Hall, in 1957, with a number of extensions
being added in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
The building has been maintained to a good standard to provide a safe place for youngsters
from the ages of 4 through to 18 to learn new skills amongst their peers, supported by
volunteer leaders.
It is recognised however that in 2025 the building does have shortcomings, particularly for
accessibility and sustainability.
Fundraising
There are a number of fundraising and grant activities needed to improve the energy
efficiency and accessibility of Arthur Dawkins hall, to make it ready for the generation that
follow.
Nikhil, father of Ansh one of our scouts, has been challenged by his son to run in the London
Marathon this year, to raise funds toward the hall improvements to improve accessibility.
Nikhil has accepted the challenge his son has set and has signed up for not one but two
runs this year, the Southampton Half marathon on the 6 th April and the London Marathon on
the 27 th of April.
Could you please support Nikhil and Ansh with their fundraising, the funds raised will be
used toward the reconfiguration of the Arthur Dawkins hall, adding a fully accessible
entrance hall as well as making all doorways suitable for those with mobility equipment.
Fundraising Targets
All funds raised will be passed to the charity irrespective of whether my target is reached, not reached or exceeded.
