Charlotte’s story

One in four of us will have mental health problems at some point in our life and whilst the NHS does fund many life saving and changing treatments, there is very little left over for the things that can make a big difference.
Many of GMMH’s service users have severe and enduring mental illness and require support for long periods of time.
Whilst they have budgets to provide the best in mental health care for their service users and carers, often the little things can also do so much.
For example, a break for a carer who spends all day, every day looking after a loved-one with a mental illness or a day experiencing something new can make all the difference to individuals who will spend most of their life living with mental health issues.
As a patient in GMMH’s care myself a few years ago, I have seen first hand the incredible work this service does to support those in need.
I am raising money specifically for three hospitals where I spent time as an inpatient and was cared for to the staff’s utmost care and attention: the Moorside Unit at Trafford General Hospital, Park House at North Manchester General Hospital and Laureate House at Wythenshawe Hospital.
